Runner to Finish his 50th State and 100th Half on the SAME DAY at Shipyard Old Port Half Marathon

This Sunday July 13th, Fifty States Half Marathon Club member David Grudzien will be the first runner ever to finish BOTH his 50th state (of the 50 States Half Marathon Challenge) AND his 100th Half Marathon (of the 100 HALF Anywhere Challenge) the same day at the same time, at the same race!  David Grudzien will be running the Shipyard Old Port Half Marathon to complete his double journey, with his special bib number 50 given to him by the race director Erik Boucher!

While David ran his 98th half marathon today, with a broken toe, running one of his best times all year, he is going to wrap that last weekend up with broken toe and all!  You'll almost always see David in his Fifty States Half Marathon club shirt, and almost always smiling!

Now just one more week till he hits the pavement to finish his 1st 50 States Journey and 100 Half marathons!

New England Half Marathon Tour - 2 Maine Half Marathons

The New England Half Marathon Tour, put on by 3C Race Productions, will have 2 Maine half marathons this fall, for 2014. The Freeport Half Marathon will take place in September 2014, and The Old Orchard Beach Half Marathon (also known as the OOB Half Marathon), will kick off this October 2014, which will include almost 4 miles along the ocean.

The New England Half Marathon Tour now has 14 events in 7 states.  All half marathon runners who complete a half marathon in 6 states of the NE Half Marathon Tour events will receive a special finisher jacket!

Additionally, if you are a 50 States Half Marathon Club member, you will receive $10 off each race!

Bands on the Run Half Marathon is back for 2nd Year this June 2013

The 2nd Annual Bands on the Run is set to take place on 6/23/2013!

The race starts off in-between two old mill buildings that have been renovated and repurposed for modern uses. In the first 3 miles runners tour the heart of the cities of Lewiston and Auburn. Most of the roads in the city along the route will be closed to traffic. Runners then follow the edge of the Androscoggin River on the Auburn side and then into a more rural setting by Mile 6. There are four river crossings in total and magnificent views of the Great Falls. This year the course includes more trail running along the Lewiston side of the river. In the final push to the finish line runner cross the river via an old railroad trestle bridge. As always there are bands along the route to keep runners motivated. A Zumba dance group will be featured at the start line before the race to get runners pumped up. The festival at the end features a live band plus free food and beer. There will also be a kids fitness course and specialty food vendors.

Big Changes for the Shipyard Old Port Half Marathon & 5k for 2013

Significant changes to the Shipyard Old Port Half Marathon & 5k coming for all you runners. Since the 2012 event sold out 2 months before the race started, the event decided to move the location of the start and finish lines.  Last year the finish was on the Maine State Pier. In 2013 both the start and the finish lines will be just up the coast a few blocks to the Ocean Gateway Terminal. Participants will now start on the Ocean Gateway pier and finish in a place next to the terminal building called Moontide Park. This means the event capacity has doubled from 1,500 to 3,000!
